The Card Collab – Issue #15
When I first started playing Magic: The Gathering nearly a year ago, there was one set that immediately caught my attention: The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth. I've always loved the worlds and lore created by J.R.R. Tolkien, so seeing Middle-Earth brought into Magic was an easy way for me to connect with the game.
One of the first Commander decks I built was centered around Sauron, the Dark Lord. So when I heard about The Hobbit set, I was already looking forward to seeing what new cards could make their way into the deck.
I was especially excited to replace my original commander with the new artwork for Sauron, the Dark Lord. I also had another idea in mind: building a dedicated The Great Goblin Commander deck.
So when prerelease night finally arrived, I was ready to see what Middle-earth had in store.
The Night Begins
The store was already fairly busy when I arrived. Players were opening single packs, Collector Boosters, and even entire Play Booster boxes. Everywhere I looked, people were digging through cards, looking at pulls, and talking about the new set.
It was clear that I wasn't the only one excited.
